Two American Giants – A Musical Tribute
Join us as we celebrate two American giants—Martin Luther King, Jr., and Abraham Lincoln in a multi- media musical presentation. The Mid-Kentucky Chorus, musicians, art, and video create an event that honors the lives and ideals of President Lincoln and Dr. King as they continue to inspire us all, even today.I Have a Dream, by Teresa Tedder, premieres at these concerts. This five-movement work for choir, soloist and orchestral ensemble, is based on the words and life of Martin Luther King, Jr.With Malice Toward None, a multi-movement cho- ral, solo and orchestral ensemble masterwork, also composed by Ms. Tedder, includes text from President Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address, the Second Inaugural Ad- dress and original text that sings the story of Abraham Lincoln’s life.
Abraham Lincoln and Dr. King affected great change in America. These musical works focus on their lives and words for the struggle for freedom and equality. Their words still hold the power to unite us today.
